A player on Reddit recently asked if the Cannonball had any practical use in-game. The response from veteran users was unanimous.

To ensure accuracy for The Survival Diary, I validated this information with the Official Frostborn Discord community. Multiple experienced players confirmed: Currently, the Cannonball has no active use in the game. 

The Link to the Drakkar Update

The mystery of the Cannonball is tied to the Drakkar (Viking Ship).

• The Promise: Since the beginning of Frostborn, the developer (Kefir) has mentioned the release of the Drakkar system.

• The Reality: As of now, the ships have not been released. We are still waiting for the update that will unlock naval exploration.

• Current Status: It is expected that Cannonballs will be one of the ammunition for these ships once the update finally arrives.

Should You Keep Them?

Even though they are useless right now, if you have crafted them, do not discard. Keep them in a chest that you do not use very frequently and in a not very protected area in your camp. You will not lose too much if you are raided, but if the long-awaited Drakkar update comes one day, you will already have your cannonballs to use.
